Minnequa Works Credit Union Community RoomGrades 3–5 are invited to enjoy books, snacks, fun activities, and friendly competition as we read, discuss, and prepare for the Battle of the Books together!
Books & Bites: Battle of the Books Club is a monthly library program for students in grades 3–5 who enjoy reading, making new friends, and having fun! Each month, participants will explore an exciting new book, enjoy themed snacks, participate in engaging discussions and hands-on activities, and build their reading and teamwork skills as they prepare for the exciting Battle of the Books competition. Whether you're an avid reader or just looking for your next great story, Books & Bites offers a welcoming space to discover new books, share ideas, and celebrate the joy of reading together.
Throughout the school year, members will also have the opportunity to prepare for Battle of the Books, a friendly reading competition typically held each May. During the competition, teams of students answer questions about the books they have read, demonstrating their comprehension, teamwork, and love of reading. Battle of the Books has previously been hosted at Colorado State University Pueblo and Rawlings Library.
Participation in the competition is completely optional. Students do not need to compete in Battle of the Books to join or enjoy the club. Whether you're interested in preparing for the competition or simply want to discover great books, enjoy snacks, and connect with other readers, Books & Bites is a welcoming place for every young reader.
