The Future of Farming on the Mesa & Mirasol Screening

Join PCCLD and the Palmer Land Conservancy for an agricultural panel made up of local experts that aims to discuss the future of farming on the Mesa with the very community at its heart.

Since the arrival of the very first homesteaders in the mid-1800s, the Mesa has played a vital role in feeding not just Pueblo, but Colorado as a whole. However, between an ever-increasing demand on water rights and an agrarian community moving toward retirement, what does the future of farming on the Mesa look like? The Pueblo City County Library District, in partnership with the Palmer Land Conservancy, invites you to join us at the Giodone Library for an agricultural panel that aims to bring this conversation to the community.

The event starts at 3:00 pm with a free screening of the Mirasol: Looking at the Sun documentary, followed by an agricultural panel hosted by the Mesa's own Mike Bartolo. Panelists will address questions relating to water rights, land usage, the next generation of farming and ranching, and much more. The public will have the chance to ask their own questions during the Q&A session at the end of the panel. Refreshments will be provided.
