Visit the 3rd floor of the Rawlings Library to see frames from the 16mm home movies of Frank D. Muramoto on display.
Frank "Duke" Denichi Muramoto (1884-1958) was a first generation Japanese immigrant, Issei, who immigrated to the United States at the turn of the 20th century. He worked to put himself through school, learning photography, and made a life with his wife Asako Muruyama and their three children Mary, James, and George. This exhibit features individual frames of 16mm film shot by Muramoto around 1939. They reveal life and culture in Pueblo and southern Colorado, including family and friends at play, the Colorado State Fair, Pueblo Mountain Park, and Pueblo Zoo.
